…Going for a walk in the Salento!
…Going for a walk in Salento! there’s a lot to do and see through ” tratturi” (dirt road)… you will be surrounded by blueberries and mastic, embraced by giant olive trees that their faces frozen for centuries, bark that become entangled with the caress of the wind. You must walk slowly because every detail is part of a unique setting, even in the middle of the repetition of yards and yards with red dirt which is burnt by the sun..
Yet each space has a history, soaked with sweat and effort of men and women, each brick tells of a story of a time from the past.
A few steps away you see the large unused farmhouse , with stables for the horses, the oil mills, and the wells…
Places that feel fascinating while you’re telling stories in the evenings around a huge bonfire, laughing, joking, and dancing with the devilish rhythm of pizzica.
An atmosphere that even today is still hunted by the sound of tambourines from the past, with people ready to embrace you with a smile, make a toast to life with a good glass of Negramaro with you wherever you come from. And you continue to walk with never ending amazement.
Now you are with other photographers on your way to the tower, with its narrow ancient stairs …, short walk and you reach the top.
The mouth gets wide open with the astonishment ..,You can feel the ocean below, slam rushing on the rocks which is almost transparent…you cannot get tired of looking at it.
The sunset slowly reclines, red in the face, behind some cliffs …You can try to take photos of this extraordinary sea.. You have time to capture a few moments but have to come back tomorrow to get new ones. Here in Salento you have to come back often. Because each photograph has a different flavor that tells of different dreams…0
